The Projects

There are at least two to develop during the year. A mini project, by the end of term two, complete with a how to use the software user manual and a main project, by week 6 in term four. Both projects require a Design Folio.

The software for the projects offered link is here.

Choose your project carefully. You have a choice of the type of project you will be developing, but once decided upon you cannot change mid-stream from one type of project development to another.

After having a look at all the steps, which are there to guide you through the project development stages, you then need to follow these steps to create your first (mini) project.

Your first project is a developer one, which will lead you into a much larger project when the first one is completed, checked, assessed and you are given the 'all clear' to start your main project.

The idea of the first project is to learn how to build a project, using the software and following the design process. It will also familiarise you with the design folio process, which is an essential component of the project.

The second and main project will be a much more complex one to the first and will use as many of the features possible of the development software. This will be your showcase project.

For both projects there are progressive work hand in requirements. The timeline for these will be discussed in class but they will be on a monthly basis. This is to ensure the work is done consistently, as well as to provide feedback on the direction on how the projects are progressing.

Assessment Marking

It is also important to realise the importance of your documentation: your Software User Manual, your Folio and your Developer's Diary, as these will make up 35% of your marks.

Another 20% will be based on your design skills and how you went about using the software.

Another 10% will be based on your work in progress handins, within a specific timeframe.

The balance of 35% will be based on how both your design projects worked, looked and interacted.
